Bulgarian hospital "Evlogi Georgiev" in Istanbul was built on
the
idea of Dr. George Vylkovich, then diplomatic representative in
Constantinople.

In a letter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dimitar Grekov
in
1891 he backs the idea to build a Bulgarian hospital in the
city.
Bulgarian government granted the necessary funds, and 3 years.
Later, during the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the
Bulgarian Exarchate, the idea goes from Bulgarian benefactor
company "Joseph I". Evlogi Georgiev, who at that time was in
Bucharest, learned about the initiative of the company and make
a
donation. After his death, Ivan Evstratiev Geshov brings the
amount
for the completion of the building and interior of the
hospital.

With donations and help Bulgarians from Bessarabia and Europe.
Funds sent our Metropolises in Macedonia and Thrace and the
Principality. At the request of Exarch Joseph and with the
sultan
of July 12, 1896, began the construction of the hospital, which

1901 the hospital was inaugurated by Exarch Joseph. The
