Extend feedback editing time, please!

As we all know, transport throughout the world has been in chaos over the past year, and the length of time that an item takes to arrive may be affected profoundly. I bought a small item posted from Germany on the 13th of September. When it did not arrive in 7 weeks I left neutral feedback and hoped I could uprate it when the item arrived. However, after a certain length of time the edit feature disappears.
Finally, today, this item arrived a total of 14 weeks after purchase! I would like to be able to change the feedback I wrote 7 weeks ago, even though it is merely neutral and not a complaint.
So - What I am asking is would it be possible to extend the length of time during which a buyer or seller may revise their feedback? Being able to revise feedback at all is a GREAT feature of Delcampe, and has been useful to me many times before, so thanks for it in any form!

Yes I agree I actually enquired about this some months back and was told that "things had returned to normal so not necessary" No comment!

However, I have always used the feedback system here as a definitive rating at the end of a transaction and cannot recall any occasion over many years that I needed to change it , I use the messaging system rather than feedback to enquire about delayed deliveries or other transit problems

Yes, thank you, that is a good idea and I will do this from now on rather than posting a neutral feedback.

I still wish that they could remove that pointless time limit though.

Wholeheartedly agree, there is little or no point in the time limit that I can see, particuarly at present and for some time to come.

My record during the pandemic is 7 months from UK to French Polynesia, but it got there somehow - my buyer was quite upset that he could not leave feedback.

While I fully understand you, DC as eBay gives 60 days for feedback which is 2 months and that's even during a pandemic enough time. That there are exceptions like yours is possible but not standard. 60 days is suitable.

Except on eBay you can't edit comments or update ratings. I commend DC on their great feedback policy, but I do not agree that 60 days is "suitable". While 3 months and 2 weeks was somewhat unusual, 60 days for something to get to me here in Hobart Tasmania is not that rare. During the pandemic it has been the norm. Before that it was infrequent, but maybe 1 in 4 shipments took 60 days+, especially items from Russia or certain parts of Germany.

I really don't think it would hurt to extend the limit to 90 days or more.

    Yes, I agree.

I assume that the vast majority of sales on D are within or close to the EU and probably 90 days is quite adequate.......but most of the world is far distant from Europe where instances of longer delays are more frequent even pre-pandemic.

More particularly, if there was an error, damage etc in the shipment and the seller has to replace, 3 months from the date of the original shipment for the replacement to arrive is often inadequate.

DELCAMPE....there is presumably a reason for your decision?

The feedback issue is one thing and not that important for me. Feedback is not mandatory but nice to have. More important is buyer/seller protection and claims for largely extended delivery times in some cases.

The feedback time-limit is directly contrary to the site's own Terms and Conditions (both the current ones and the new ones from 1 March), which read:

"A feedback can be modified or withdrawn at any time by the member who made it, without
having to provide an explanation other than via the associated comment." [Para 9.2]

So, Delcampe :d-unhappy: , some explanation please.

    Hello,

This part does not seem to reflect our system.
A feedback cannot be removed by a member, only Delcampe can do this and within a limited time frame (maximum 4 months).
A feedback can only be modified during a time frame of 2 months.
I'll make sure the next Terms & Conditions changes apply to this section.

We are currently not planning to extend the feedback period as this implies lots of changes in our system (cancellations requests, opening of a dispute...). Besides, we feel that 2 months is in the majority of cases enough to leave a feedback, knowing that a 100% feedback can be left during a time frame of 4 months.

    Regards,
    Miranda - Delcampe Customer Service

    Thanks for the explanation, Miranda
If 4 months is the absolute time limit for any feedback to be made, so be it

So can one only leave a 100% feedback in months 3 & 4 if nothing at all has been left previously?
Or can a, say, 50% be increased to 100% during those months?

I cannot see how an increase in feedback level could lead to any form of dissatisfaction.
I agree that reduction in feedback level already given should not be allowed at any time (except by request and explanation to Admin)

    Hi David,

4 months is for 100% feedback.
As you wrote, you can leave a 100% feedback IF no feedback has been previously added.
    This only works with 100%.

A reduction or an increase of the time limit can have several impacts on the website as some of our features have been based on the time frame we have set and changing this is not a simple work.

And as I said, we consider that 60 days is a good time frame to leave a feedback.
In the majority of cases, you do not need to wait 60 days to leave it.
Some people also choose to wait the last limit to leave a feedback in order to avoid getting one as revenge.
For those cases, no matter how long you will give them, the issue will continuously be the same.
And if you have been waiting a long time and you finally get your items, then you can pretty much leave a 100% feedback.

    Regards,
    Miranda
