    Another nail in Delcampe's coffin

    I have just tried to amend a description on one of my listings, and despite typing into the 'source' field the system has (a) stripped out my font selection and (b) replaced paragraph breaks with line breaks

    Put it back how it was - it worked then!

    Just to reiterate: I won't be making any modifications or listing new items until this abomination is fixed

    It looks like my decision last year to finally start using the lister, has been a good one. All my stuff still looks the same.

    Any items in existence before the change remain the same - it's only if you try to modify or create an item that things go wrong

    I agree with Mainly - there are no problems using the Lister. Due to the problems with the online form I was forced back into using the Lister and there are no problems with it regarding editing items. I'm glad I paid for Gold membership as all the hassles it has saved me recently have been worth it.

    What I meant was "all my newly listed stuff". I haven't tried to edit anything online yet, but it's a very rare event anyhow. The only thing I tend to edit is the title, if I spot a typing mistake.

    It's about 10-12 days since I last participated in discussion on issues with description formatting with new Listing form. Enough time for the "team" to fix them.
    1) Strange to read Ben's statement that the issues are all fixed. They are NOT. The only positive change I see is that centering buttons are back to life again, and it is possible to RESTORE that feature of ruined descriptions MANUALLY - when you edit or "sell similar" or "sell new using previous listing".

    2) In above tasks, we still face changes and spoiling of descriptions formatting. Namely - colors and centering lost; other sellers mention more.

    3) If Delcampe things that all issues are fixed, if they are unable to fix them in reality, I join my voice to those sellers who feel nostalgie towards the good old listing form and want / demand to restore it, something that really worked and never caused problems.

    4) I can see messages from some "happy sellers" who say they have no problems because they use the Lister. So there's the instrument that makes the listing form work perfectly (as they say), but that instrument cost MONEY - you need to subscribe for Gold or something member and pay for it. This brings up the presumption that malfunctioning Listing form is deliberately left in that state to FORCE sellers to become Gold- etc members. In other words - a new sophisticated way of grabbing more money.
    What about sellers who want to stay "ordinary", do not see any interest in gold membership, and simply don't want to be blackmailed in that manner?
    IF USING THE LISTER IS THE ONLY WAY TO AVOID THOSE FORMATTING ISSUES IN LISTING FORM - THEN THE LISTER SHOULD BE FREE TO USE.

    Still, I hope this is not a pre-planned tactics to force sellers into Gold membership. However, the "Team" had enough time to fix the issues. Having optimistically waited enough, I now expect Delcampe to do one of the following:
    - Work harder, really WORK on it to fix and make it functional - and never declare victory when it's still bad;
    - Return the old listing form in its original state;
    - Allow sellers to choose between old and new Listing forms right in their personal settings / preferences.

    Now, Ben, Dimitri, Your Excellency Sir Sebastien,- what are you saying? Or you pretend not seeing this? Why did you replace a perfectly working feature with new something, which demands either additional time and efforts from sellers, or additional money? It's only yesterday that you added 15c per-sold fee. Did that fee buy us this new problem?
    Embracing,-

    Benjamin, I have contacted you as requested

    To illustrate the problem I have created a similar listing from one created before the upgrade - you can clearly see how the description has been damaged by the listing form, even before I made any manual changes to the listing

    The item numbers are: 113419041 and 212951402

    You can continue to type stuff into the description box without knowing any HTML, but what you can't do is (a) change the font (it uses default Ariel) or change the alignment (none of the justification buttons work), and as mentioned originally, the paragraph break

    is constantly replaced with the line break

    The nett result is a rather flat, cluttered description which in my opinion is hard to read

    It's all down to individual choice - I prefer to use Verdana rather than Ariel as I prefer the wider character spacing it gives

    Ha! Just noticed that the text input on this post used the paragraph and line break instructions - something else not right!

    Other sites which use WYSIWYG/source description input allow selection of different fonts, etc., but it seems Delcampe have gone for WYSIWYG-lite which has just the one default (Ariel) font

    Sorry to sound so knowledgeable, it's just my experience of computers goes back to about 1974 when paper tape readers were cutting-edge technology...
