Closing for holiday - reopening

    Does anyone know how to suspend all sales for a period of time and then to reopen those sales so that they do not all end at the same time?
    I have asked delcampe this several times but have never had a proper answer other than once when they said it makes no difference at all if they all end at the same time! Not much help there then- it makes a massive difference if you have 5000 items all ending at the same exact time on the same day.
    Urgent help would be appreciated

    I knew all of what you have said and have done that before but when you restatrtt it restarts them all with the same finishing time instaed of continuing with the previous finishing times. Now you have 5000 items all finishing at once that nobody could possibly look through!
    This has been an ongoing problem that I have never had an answer to solve.

    How do people even know I exist if all my items are listed at the same moment?
    I agree they can find my items by searching for a particular item but having 5000 listings at all different times at least gives buyers the chance of finding you as a seller! Why bother to have auction ending times at all according to your theory.
    What I can tell you is that eaxh time I have spread the ending times out from the 50000 finishing in one go - my sales have increased!

    Yes, I concur with that. For me, it is not very viable to continually bulk-relist things that are not selling,

    I have found over the last few years that if I list a few genuinely new items in country x then many other much older items from country x plus other countries tend to be sold......presumably the new listing directs purchasers to my shop.

    But I have to say that due to the bulk re-lisings im '000 s regularly carried out by some large sellers, my new listings soon disappear into oblivion especially if they are for a country with 20,000+ items and no sub-categories.

    Surely its time for D to re-think the methodology of their listing etc policy as the present system is pretty archaic and, with the growth of the site, can only become more and more geriatric.

    Yes, I know that this subject is spread across several threads, but I live in the forlorn hope that someone, somewhere in the Delcampe domain might be open-minded enough to consider all possibilities. Unless, of course, the powers that be have already concluded that nothing needs to change in this respect that could benefit the site, its buyers and sellers

I agree entirely that ending times make no difference when a buyer finds you by search but it may well do if he searches by ending soonest or is actually watching all items ending.
    I guess thats why so many people constantly relist their items so they constantly appear in "newly listed" but thats not really good for the site is it?

    Hi Dellfrog,
    As a gold member you have the possibility of making "multiple changes" at any time to the ending times of all or some of your items.
    See my delcampe>sell>multiple changes and then select the option you want.

    Hi Dellfrog,
    As a gold member you have the possibility of making "multiple changes" at any time to the ending times of all or some of your items.
    See my delcampe>sell>multiple changes and then select the option you want.

    Thanks for response, Sure but that does not help because with 5000 items it still requires mass same ending times as against individual ending times. I used that on previous breaks but it still does not allow items just to re-end where they left off.

    Yes, you are right, I started on D a few months after you but did not use it that much till 2010.

    I accept your point about the "ending soonest" drawbacks,

    Some newer sites are catalogue based (both stamp sites and collectable sites) and the search is by lowest price rather than ending soonest or newest listing. Usually works well with exceptions for uncatalogued or unusual items etc. and new or revised items are highlighted but not put first.

    I am not suggesting this as something D should change to but only to consider whether some aspects can be integrated into the existing system.

    Many of these sites are gaining in popularity with both sellers and buyers presumably at the expense of the established majors,

    I am sure that the technically able minds at Delcampe could conjure up a system that uses the best of all the available search systems without necessarily scrapping the existing software. takes time and effort of course but presumably D wishes to retain its pre-eminent position?
