For most of the larger sized high values from the former German offices abroad, you need to state whether the stamp is watermarked or not. If watermarked it will bear a mesh of lozenges which will be clearly visible on the back of the stamp.

Also, these values come in a variety of perforations which all measure approximately 14.5, so you have to count the number of perforation holes in order to accurately identify them. The possible combinations are i) 26 x 17 holes, ii) 25 x 17 holes, and iii) 25 x 16 holes.

For unused stamps, you also need to state whether these have been previously hinged or not - mint hinged or unmounted mint.

For this particular item from Kiautschou it can be based on my old Michel catalogue :-
    No watermark, 26 x 17 holes - Michel 25A ( or 25I )
    No watermark, 25 x 16 holes - Michel 25B ( or 25II )
    Lozenge watermark, 26 x 17 holes - Michel 35A ( or 35I )
    Lozenge watermark, 25 x 17 holes - Michel 35B ( 35II )

Once identified, you can compare it with the prices being asked for elsewhere under the German Colonies listings.
    Hope this helps.
