    Hello,

I was told that both Canada Sc #85 and#86 "Imperial Penny" (the first stamps ever issued for Christman) have always as mint offset ink on their gum coming from sheets below. Is it true or can we find "clean" stamps ? Thank you.

    hi,
here is a MNH (**) example of a canada #86 in my auction and it does show some minute red ink on the back. there may be no clean stamps to be obtained, but then there may be some. but then who really looks at the back in an album? :dunno: hope this helps answer your question. and here is a link to my auction:
    Vinculo (http) .
    merci et a bientot,

Thank you very much for having taken care of giving me your opinion. Sorry to disagree. Most people (and I too) do look at the back . How could you explain otherwise the difference made in catalogs (and CV) between MNH and hinged ; VF, F, etc. ?

    Merci
