Trying to determine the significance of the hats in this French? group photo of children and maybe the hat on the drummer. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

The "coiffe" is a traditional headgear in many regions, such as Brittany and Normandy. I think we are in Normandy here, judging from the publisher in Le Treport. See Link (https) for several forms of this headgear.
