    Hello everybody,

A shout out to the German-speaking members of the Delcampe community. I am trying to complete the history of my town in images, but I am unable to identify this particular person, photographed in 1883. Can anyone help with the translation of the reverse message.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,

    The text translates as follows:
'In pleasant memory, in friendly memory of Lannan Meinberg.
    Rustzuk in january 1883'.

I'm not entirely sure of the name 'Lannan Meinberg' (could also be Launan, Launau, Lannau, ...).

    Best regards,

    Quasar

    Dear friend,

Thank you for your swift reply. Actually, it is the name that is giving me a headache. I was hoping someone who is more experienced than me in deciphering German 19-century handwriting will manage to spell out the name. Unfortunately, it is a Jewish name and not a typical Bulgarian name, so I cannot make it out.
Anyway, thank you for your effort. It was very kind of you to help me.

    Kind Regards.

    Hi Nickolay,

When looking at the name again, I'm pretty sure it is Weinberg and not Meinberg.

    Best regards,

    Dear Quasar,

I hope this is your real name and you don't mind my addressing you like this. Upon closer inspection, I am now certain it is Weinberg and not anything else. However, the mystery of the first name remains. I have searched the Internet for any permutation of Lamian and nothing seems trustworthy enough. Anyway, I shall persevere. :pc_user:

A huge thank you once again.

    Hello.

Yes Weinberg, means an area where in the past was wine plants. Some Familynames are coming from such places.
