Need a Translation - German to English

    Hello, I purchased this card a few years ago of what I suspect is my hometown in Poughkeepsie NY. I believe the back is in German and he may be a Beer Brewer. I've had this card in my collection of years and have always been curious what the man in the photo wrote on the back! Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    He writes:

    'Poughkeepsie October 8, 1912,
    My dear friend Alex,
    We received your letter and also your photograph. It has pleased us very much to hear something from you. You're welcome anytime: we have a place for a friend. Dear Alex, you have to apologize me that I'm writing so short this time, but next time better. Thanks to God we are all in good health and you will certainly recognize the horse and the man on this postcard. Best regards to all,

    1) The name 'Germes' at the end (two times) is probably to be read as 'Germer'.

    2) He doesn't write '... you will certainly recognize the horse', but: '... you will certainly recognize the horseS'.
