Unidentified Cards

I like these 2 cards but they total stumped me as I have not been able to identify what is going on. There appear to be part of the same set and appear to have J de Vroege? written on them in different hands after they were printed. Cards could be French as they have Carte Postale backs. Both are unused and have no publisher detailed.

Not a lot to go on, but if any body can help me with a title or artist then I would love to know.

'Carte Postale' could be a red herring as many cards are marked as such in accordance with UPU regulations, in much the same way as postage due was always labelled 'Timbre Tax'

De Vroege is a very Dutch/Flemish name though - possibly they originate in Belgium.
