Certainly not Skipton - that's a quite sizeable town; my best guess would be Bainbridge in Wensleydale which has a very large green similar to the one shown

Unlikely to be Wakefield area - the hills in the background are inconsistent with that part of West Yorkshire, and more in keeping with the higher dales

Just to rain on your parade a little - how about the small villages in Swaledale - Gunnerside, Reeth, Muker, etc.? Or possibly even Arkengarthdale?

If I get chance in the next few days I may try to take a drive down one and up t'other and see if I can spot any similarities - any chance you can email me a hi-res scan to take with me?
