Can someone identify this one Germany France?

    Hi I have a very interesting real photo postcard

    With street and people and a sign that says SNELL on left ? and building has a name I cant quite make out could be a hotel??:question:

    If I can identify I know it will command a better price. If anyone knows the place / country would be appreciated. There are no clues on the reverse!

    Thanks i wasnt sure if Shell or Snell. It is just a bit small to real the writing on the building but there appears to be an interesting poster etc

    Any ideas if this helps with country? It is nice to have a mystery!

    I read the sign as Shell.

    Is the scan you've done the best resolution your scanner can do?
    If not, try scanning at the highest possible resolution and then zooming in onto the notice board. If you could read even a few of the words, it might give a clue.
    I zoomed in as far as I could before it started to go blurry and it does look like a pub/store type blackboard, but I couldn't make out any of the writing.

    I read the sign as Shell.

    Is the scan you've done the best resolution your scanner can do?
    If not, try scanning at the highest possible resolution and then zooming in onto the notice board. If you could read even a few of the words, it might give a clue.
    I zoomed in as far as I could before it started to go blurry and it does look like a pub/store type blackboard, but I couldn't make out any of the writing.

    I have had more lcuk with a magnifying glass:

    The building on left has a date of 1906.

    Just above the gate at the end of street over arch there is a double headed eagle so Germany ?

    I can clearly see the word Benzine by Shell and Auto GL. On the big sign above the door I can see a name Hans .... and on the dark poster to keft of the door there is a picture of a face and the Word Sonzet ?

    Any clues?

    The building on left has a date of 1906.

    I think you can rule France out at this point.

    Are you sure it is the same town??

    But thanks for your help! As it stands I have put a value of 30 GBP on it for the shell connection you think that is about right?

    No, I am not sure it's the same town, but certainly a similar looking top.
