I have an old postcard of Bays of Port Cooper Lyttledon Harbour & Mitchells Track Summit Road Tourist scenes 1611 Auckalnd Island postcard NZ

Real photo by Frank Duncan & Co stamped on reverse

It also have a lovely message on the back about a group of 'library girls' taking a 10 mile walk . One island marked with x is mentioned as a leper colony.

Obviously quite unusual. I cannot see many Auckland Islands cards being sold so if anyone knows anything about this publisher and the catalogue value of this card please can you help?

I would like to sell the card to interested collectors!

    Hi,

It is not an Auckland Islands postcard but a view of Lyttelton Harbour, the port of Christchurch, New Zealand. Thus, it's not all that unusual or scarce. There are a number of views similar to this.

The island marked with an "x" is Quail Island, a former leper colony, ship's graveyard, and training site for Capt. Scott's expedition before leaving for the Antarctic. Had the pleasure of walking around Quail Island in January. It's now a conservation reserve.

    best regards, Brent
