    I think you are correcr in your assumption of Edward (either as Prince or King) as the Union Flag is part of a larger White Ensign as flown by ships of the Royal Navy, and the two figures look to be of a naval persuasion; Edward was very much a 'Sailor King' so this would fit with the theory. Are there any other markings on the front or back which may aid identification?
