Stamp orders from Italy

In the last few months I ordered 5 inexpensive stamps from Italy and did not receive any of them. Sellers claim that letters sent by ordinary mail are at the buyers risk. I do understand that, but it simply doesn't make sense to pay for 3 euro item 7 euros for shipping. By the way, my other orders from other countries all arrive. Couple of times bit late especially from France, but at least I receive what I paid for. The situation with mail from Italy is ridiculous

"Sellers claim that letters sent by ordinary mail are at the buyers risk."

This is illegal under the Distance Selling Regulations which are law in most of Europe.

You should immediately commence getting your money back and if you paid by Paypal you will because of that illegal disclaimer and that the seller cannot prove delivery.

The seller is responsible for any sale until it reaches you because the carrier is the sellers servant and not yours.

Having exactly the same scenario now with a seller from Italy who claims he's sent the package and of which I have seen neither hide nor hair for over three weeks. In that time I've had orders sent from Belgium, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Portugal - and Italy too - that have all reached me within a week. Should I start the procedure to claim my money back? The stamps I ordered were not particularly expensive but I do need them to complete a collection.

I would allow your seller a little more leeway because mail service efficiency has appeared to have declined considerably recently. I has become noticeable that my outgoing overseas mail is taking weeks to arrive when previously much of it took only days to reach destination.

Tracked mail indicates the fault is here - probably Brexit related - where mail stops dead at Heathrow. Your delay may be because of postal customs holding things up.

Allow another week then contact your seller is what I would do.

Aye, it's when I see that message about mail landing at "Langley HWDC" I get the feeling it becomes a bit of a lottery, especially regarding HMRC post-Brexit! Had one that went there recently that ended up back with its sender and I only found that out after actually ringing Royal Mail's complaints hotline. Fortunately all was right second time around.
