I would love your opinions as to the cancellations of theses two sets.
Do you feel they are fake cancellations or simply cancelled to order sets?

Thanks very much. I agree with your opinion.
I would welcome some other opinions as well.
There is point to all of this.

    Hello,
They could also be cut-outs from FDC's.

Would it surprise you that all 3 sets were removed from my store as fake cancels?

You should ask the Moderator for his reasons why the items were removed,

One Moderator active on Delcampe is an expert on Luxembourg philatelic materials and he removed some of my listings for fake cancels (a couple of years ago). He did explain to me why they were removed and gave me a link to literature that explained these cancels and showed how to recognise them. But I had to ask him.

I did speak to him online. He was quite helpful regarding other items, but somehow did not give me an answer regarding these 3 sets. I use mostly Scott and Yvert and did not find any reference to expertising these items. I guess the point is that there must be a lot of cancelled items that are not proofed. His recommendation was to send out material to have it proofed...and my response is proofing is cost prohibitive for low value items. With which he agreed. So when to proof and at what price?

Don't get me wrong...I am not upset that these sets were removed. In fact I just had about 500 German inflation stamps removed as well by another moderator. That was fine too, because I was not aware of the number of items out there that are not genuine. The bigger issue is that of the cost of proofing low value items.

A lot of Luxembourg sets around this period were issues that are worth considerably more postally used than they are mint - so postmarks were extensively forged and faked

Knowledgeable collectors will ask for certification before buying these items so the best way to sell them is to offer them 'as is' and state you do not guarantee the postmarks

I believe my mistake was to show a catalogue price for a genuine cancel. The inflation items in particular were all listed
years ago and I do not currently do so. The Lux items were questionable...so goodbye to them. There are many many current listings from others that too look very suspicious and I dare say that this site would have quite a few less offerings
if moderators had the time or inclination to look at them all.
The moderator said he charges 4% of the catalogue value, which is reasonable. Unfortunately for me he only does Lux
If anyone has a recommendation for any proofers for world wide material, please let me know.

Thanks very much...a quick look tells me the minimum proofing is 25 euros. There goes any item worth less than 150.euros.So how does the Michel value listing stand up to prohibitive proofing costs???
