The response from Delcampe is total cobblers

PHQ cards are PHQ cards whether they carry a stamp or not; occasionally they may have a stamp on the front - whereby it may be considered a 'maxi-card' - but if the picture on the card is of the stamp itself then it is still a PHQ card, and almost invariably it will be unaddressed

Most British dealers will classify these as 'front FDI PHQ' or 'back FDI PHQ' cards - *NOT* maxi-cards

To the best of my knowledge the Post Office will not accept any mail stamped on a side different from the address, nor will they officially accept mail to be cancelled and handed back to the customer - it must go through the postal system

I once got an album full as part of a job lot and eventually sold them for the equivalent of about 10p each; I got more selling the empty cover album

    Dear Carol,

Do you confirm that someone of our team said you "PHQ cards don't have stamps, while Maxicards do" ?

We are not allowed to reply to such questions, as there is only few philatelists in the team, and no-one specialized in UK Philately.

The best place to ask is indeed this forum, not our support.

Or Google... or Wikipedia: Link (http)

    Dear Carol,

Dimitri of my team came spontaneously to me to speak about that. Dimitri is a very good skilled team member... but not a philatelist... and philately is vast, and this question was quite specialized.

So, he can mistake and can not be blamed for that. He requested the answer to one of his colleagues who is a philatelist, but there was probably a misunderstanding.

I do not know anything about the problem you have had with this seller, but, here is my point of view:

An UK postcard, issued by the British Post Office, representing a real stamp is a PHQ card. Link (http)

A postcard representing the same topic as the stamp stuck and cancelled on it is a Maximum card. Link (http)

BUT... a PHQ card representing the same topic as the stamp stuck and cancelled on it is a Maximum card and a PHQ Card. So in this last case the item can be located in any of the categories: PHQ or Maximum card, seller chooses.

    Seb Delcampe
