Buyer forgot to change Paypal address

My buyer moved house and forgot to change his old address in Paypal.

So when the buyer paid for the item purchased by Paypal, and I received the usual email from Paypal, I sent the item to the address shown in Paypal, as Paypal requires its address for the buyer to be used unless the buyer advises otherwise.

Five weeks later, the buyer says my letter has not arrived. So after checking, I notice his address as shown in the Delcampe email is different to the address I got from paypal. I tell the buyer, who replies that he forgot to change his old address on paypal.

The item was only a few euros, so no big problem, but the buyer says everyone on Delcampe except me uses the Delcampe address and not the address shown for the buyer on paypal. Is this correct?

    Thanks

I tend to cross check the Delcampe and Paypal address and if it's different I won't send the item until the buyer confirms where to send it.

However, you are perfectly correct to send the item to the Paypal address - the buyer should provide the correct information.

Make sure, that you hold on to all communications from him/her, just in case they make a chargeback on Paypal but tbh, I don't know how Paypal would view this situation.

If your address was on the packet/envelope it may get returned to you as undeliverable.

I had a similar instance a few weeks ago where the PayPal address differed from the Delcampe - I sent it to the Delcampe one but the buyer never received it and only later confirmed his PayPal address as being the correct one

The letter was returned to me (from Canada) but not before I'd refunded the buyer, so I just relisted the items concerned and told him to get his information accurate

    Yes....most irritating.

Having been "caught out" twice like this, I always now double-check the address and email the buyer if there are differences.

I had one instance where the buyer had even changed countries 3 months earlier and forgot to change his Delcampe address as he did not buy on the site very often.
