    Good afternoon everybody

I have a us stamp-precancelled (nr.425-6 ct -James Garfield of 1922-according to Minkus catalogue) which should be in red orange, but which is largely in black(but showing some red orange in the corner)

Being only a Belgium collector ,and knowing nothing or almost nothing about US stamps, could somebody give some clarification, whether this stamp is:
    -common(in this hue) ?
-is the result of perhaps a chemical reaction ?
-is perhaps a colour fault(the 7 ct is in black)?

    Thanks beforehand,
    Philatelic belgian greetings,

    Paul Janssens(Antwerp-Belgium)
