Dormant account charge

I have just received an email saying Mangopay are going to charge me 30 euros because my account is dormant. I do not use Delcampe to sell on any more but sometimes buy from sellers here. I have a balance of £1 on my account apparently,Delcampe site said I needed to withdraw it in order to close my account which I want to do. But then I had to verify my identity. So I have sent in proof of ID and hope to hear soon.

Will that stop Mangopay charging me even if I leave the Delcampe account open but with no funds available to withdraw? I have never heard of a payment operator working in this way, charging because you don't use them! Any advice welcome.

I can vaguely remember, "Moneybookers" (later Skrill) did similar long ago :deal:

Sounds weird - charging you for not using a service. The legality of this must be dubious at best. Maybe a message to the Financial Services Ombudsman would clarify? Or to put your mind at rest disconnect your bank account from Mangopay so they cannot arbitrarily seize funds from it. I would love to see them trying to justify such a charge in a local County Court!

Fortunately I have changed my bank account since I last used it to buy or sell on Delcampe so perhaps I am safe from that point of view. What was equally annoying was that Delcampe wanted me to empty my balance here (£!!) but I had to verify my identity before I could do so. I hope my verification comes through soon, I can withdraw that £1 and then.... well I am not sure - I may well close the Delcampe account altogether as I do not wish to be signed up with Mangopay.

I would welcome any advice on the whole situation from any Delcampe staff here on the forum.

It annoyed me so much I am closing down my account.

    This site has been ruined.
