1826 (3 Jan) EL franked free at lower left by 'W Stewart' (MP for Tyrene) sent from Dublin to the Archbishop Primate of Ireland at Armagh, endorsed by Stewart at top 'Dublin, Jany three 1825' however an additional inscription at left 'put in Jany 1826' with superb 'WRONG DATE' in scroll handstamp alongside topped with a fine Crown inspectors mark, and charged a penalty treble rate of '2/3' in manuscript. On reverse a '3 JA 3 1826' cds in red. Clearly Mr Stewarts Free Frank privilege did not extend into 1826 resulting in this flagrant abuse of the Free Frank system. This is the finer of the 2 known 'Wrong Date' scrolls on cover. Rare.
