DESCRIPTION

Original 1961 first U.S. pressing of The Halos’ self-titled debut LP on Warwick Records. Includes their R&B hit “Nag”, plus a mix of up-tempo doo-wop and smooth harmony ballads arranged by Bill Ramal. Members: Al Cleveland, Phil Johnson, Arthur Crier, and Harold Johnson. A classic early-’60s New York vocal-group sound preserved in a beautifully cut Bell Sound lacquer.

True first pressing, mastered at Bell Sound Studios, New York and plated by Longwear Plating (LW) — both marks appear in the runouts.
“LW” denotes Longwear Stamper Co., a Brooklyn-based plating facility that produced metal masters for early Warwick, Roulette, and Brunswick issues.
Presence of “Bell Sound” and “LW” confirms first-generation pressing plates, not later recuts.
Produced under the supervision of Morty Craft, founder of Warwick Records (a Seven Arts Record Productions subsidiary).
Original 1961 issue, preceding later budget reissues or compilations.
