I spose its 3 years since we started old thread so I'll start again. Byatt in his "Picture Postcards & Publishers"1978 (yes, 32 years old but still the "bible") says unusually the Wrench's story is complete cos Evelyn Wrench wrote an biography in 1934 (but he didn't die till 1966!) But what happened to his litho stones after he went bust?(in 1906) At £2 each they weren't just gonna be broken up, his cards were printed in Saxony. I have found identical images on cards by both Hartman and Gordon Smith presumably printed from Wrench's stones in Saxony. I have limited myself to colour cards and identified them by the long tails to both "n"s in London in the title, sometimes even Wrench's number appears!
    I also have a card from Owen Meredith remaindering Wrench's B&W cards at 1/3d for a 100!
Was it usual to print cards from someone else's stones? (presumably not Valentines, they'd have had legal eagles looking out for pirate copies!)
