I'm done with Delcampe

I have a box of garbage postcards that dishonest and lazy sellers have fooled me into buying. What is so difficult about putting down a few words about the condition of what you're trying to sell? I can't get over the laziness of sellers who provide nothing more than a one-word title and not a single word in description. I do however notice they go to great lengths to explain how they want to be paid. I'm really angry right now because I've been burned yet again, but I do want to say that there are some really outsandingly good sellers on Delcampe, but it's the bad ones who are ruining the experience for me. After the first few times I was fooled I started asking questions of the sellers, but more often then not, they didn't even bother to respond. Either that or I got very stupid answers. For example I asked one seller what was the size of a postcard and his reply was "I don't know". Are there no rulers in France? I asked another seller if a postcard was a real photograph or a printed card and the reply was "Yes". I've even taken the effort to translate my questions into the sellers' language and I still get this sort of nonsense reply. Needless to say I would never buy anything from any of these sellers, no matter how tempting. Since I can't afford to continue throwing away good money after bad, I will only by buying from sellers with whom I have dealt with in the past and whose reputation I know.

    Hi Drewski,
I am sorry to hear you've become a victim of "not entirely honest" sellers.
I am afraid you will find them on any site, not just Delcampe. I've been a victim of exactly the same phenomena, but not on here. A while ago I bid on Ebay on a "joblot of 100 topographical British postcards". When it arrived it was 100 extremely common London pc's. Technically speaking it was "British PC's, but it would have been more honest, if the seller had stated "London PC's"
Although I am mainly a seller, my advice is to ask questions and if you do not get sensible answers stay well clear.
As a buyer, if I am not sure about the item description I will ask questions and if I do not get a satisfactory reply, I will not bid/buy.
As a seller, I am afraid I must admit that I keep my description of the item's conditions to a minimal, although there always is a comment in every single listing about the condition, but any question I receive I will answer as comprehensively as possible and on most occasions within hours of receiving it (time zone difference permitting).

I think Delcampe has an awful lot to offer, both to sellers and buyers and I've made some very good purchases here (including finding some completely "new to me" postcards in my areas of collecting). But, as with any auction site, one must excercise some caution, in order not to get caught out with a rough deal.

It's very sad to see comments like these.:cool2::|
I'm not an expert of postcards.
Most of my sellings are philately items.
Most of my postcards on sell have the 2 sides images.
I think that a seller of a single card must show the images of both sides.
And of course describe all the faults of the card (cards).
Most of my work is writing all or most of the items details.
I and my customers are very satisfied.
I hope that you'll have no more bad experience.

    Happy holiday
