Yes I do use PayPal at every opportunity!

The postal situation between Britain and the European mainland is SO unreliable that I have now got to the situation that unless it is a "simply have to buy" I am not bothering to bid, it is too expensive to lose 75,00 euros to some post office theif and then to have to pay again.

One Delcampe dealer that I often buy from using Delcampe - Jakez - has seemingly recognised that in order to have the whole world bidding it is a prerequisite to be user friendly.
Dear reader, please imagine the situation of a collector who perhaps lives in Kansas City or somesuch place; he would not have easy access to euros in cash. He would have to go to his bank, sign a lot of forms with a lot of money-laundering questions; the bank would then order the cash and a week or so later it would arrive at some terrible exchange rate. Our poor man then has to wrap this money in black card and then risk the world-wide postal system!
    Inviting isnt it?

Everyone understands that the French only really want cash - out of politeness I will not mention why this appears to be the situation - however it is my firm belief that the cost of Paypal is MORE than exceeded by the extra bids that are generated through the possibility of using PayPal

The Delcampe sellers are in the most part really, really nice people who by and large appear to be human beings first. My fear is that as the world postal service gradually deteriorates furher more and more people will be put off from bidding unless there is a PayPal option. For myself following oe or two big losses I am buying much less this year than I did last year. I reckon that when the pain gets too bad the dealers will either change their business model or be forced out of business.

    All rather silly!

I use Paypal for my Ebay auctions (as a buyer or seller). It's so easy to use! But... Don't forget that a user in Greece or in Portugal (and many countries all around the world) cannot use Paypal to refund money in a bank account.

As a Greek, it's useless to use Paypal here in Delcampe, to sell a postcard i.e. who it's value is 20 euros and cannot take this money at my bank account.

A solution for the Greek buyer/seller and others could be to transfer your funds from your Paypal account to a friends Paypal account in another EU country.
This friend can then transfer "your" money from his/her bankaccount to yours using the IBAN - BIC system.

Needless to say this needs a solid trust relationship.

Make sure you don't forget paypal fees if appliccable.
In Belgium IBAN - BIC transfers are free , check the fees applicable to your location first.
