About the DVD
This special DVD is very rare and highly sought after. It is no longer available on Ebay and Amazon and rarely seen on offer anywhere else.
Nose Art and Pin Ups is a documentary DVD which tells the stories behind iconic World War Two images painted on aircraft for American Servicemen belonging to the Eighth Army Airforce (USAAF) based in England like the "Our Gal Sal" and "Delta Rebel Two".
The film explores the various themes of Nose Art through pin-ups of "gals" back home and American States as well as some more humorous images of animals and other cartoon characters.
Nose Art was the name given to expressive images painted on the noses of aircraft used throughout the war Bomber and fighter pilots and their crews explain why they chose their particular artwork and how their lives were made more bearable with the moral boost that Nose Art provided.
These truly brave servicemen share their stories of deadly missions, friends made and lost together with their capture and escape as prisoners of war.
The film also hears from veteran crew chief Don Allen who painted artwork on more than 100 aircraft belonging to the Fourth Fighter Group. Please note that some of the Pin Up images and artwork painted on the aircraft and shown in this film do have scenes of semi-nudity. This was a different era - please appreciate these were not modern times!
