This listing is for the sale of two half sheets of Hungary 1922 stamps in the Reaper series with overprints as shown in the scans.
I believe that these stamps were used as postage due stamps.
These half sheets are MNH mint never hinged.
Each half sheet has full gum.
There is some ‘creasing’ effect in the gum on the reverse sides of the half sheets. This does not show through to the front face of the stamps.
The perforations are generally good although a very small number are just starting to split around the edge.
None of the half sheets have margins.
In the centre of each half sheet, the stamps in the two centre columns have had perforation size holes punched through them in a regular pattern – the safety triangular punching.
These part sheets have been folded.
For sale in this listing are:
- 1 x half sheet of 50 stamps - 30 Korona overprint on 1½ Korona – 1922
- 1 x half sheet of 50 stamps - 40 Korona overprint on 2½ Korona – 1922
The overprints reflect the inflation suffered by countries such as Hungary in the 1920s. Unable to earn the money required for reparations to the winning allies of World War 1, countries such as Hungary resorted to printing money which was not matched by the productive capacity of the country and which resulted in hyperinflation.
Postage to UK addresses excluding the Channel Islands will be £1.26 UK Pounds. for Europe £3.85 UK Pounds, £5.15 UK Pounds for Australasia and £4.85 UK Pounds for elsewhere. These postage costs are not included in the list price.
