Schweizer Erfindungen - WC-Ente
Als Walter Düring-Orlob sein neues Produkt WC-Ente nennen wollte, wurde ihm davon abgeraten. Doch er blieb seiner Idee treu, meldete ein Patent an und drehte sogar einen TV-Spot. Mit durchschlagendem Erfolg: Seit der Markteinführung 1980 ist die WC-Ente aus Schweizer Badezimmern nicht mehr wegzudenken – und längst ein Exportschlager. Der Erfindungsgeist lag in der Familie: Walters Mutter Maria Düring-Keller entwickelte den bekannten Entkalker durgol und legte damit den Grundstein für das Familienunternehmen. Als Walter einstieg, tüftelte er an praktischen Kunststoffflaschen. Dabei liess ihn eine Frage nicht los: Wie bringt man Reinigungsmittel mühelos unter den Toilettenrand? Die Antwort: mit einem gebogenen Flaschenhals, der an eine Ente erinnert. Übrigens: Die erste Rezeptur des Reinigungsmittels stammte von seiner Frau Vera Düring.

Il avait été déconseillé à Walter Düring-Orlob d’appeler son produit CANARD-WC. Ne se laissant pas démonter, l’inventeur dépose une demande de brevet et produit un spot TV. C’est un succès: dès son lancement en 1980, CANARD-WC trône dans toutes les salles de bain suisses et s’est imposé à l’international. L’inventivité est un trait de famille: c’est la mère de Walter, Maria Düring-Keller, qui a mis au point le célèbre détartrant «durgol» et posé ainsi la première pierre de l’entreprise familiale. Lorsqu’il rejoint l’entreprise familiale, son fils Walter s’emploie à créer des bouteilles plastiques innovantes, soucieux de pouvoir appliquer le produit détartrant directement sous le bord de la cuvette des WC. C’est ainsi que lui vient l’idée du goulot recourbé, qui rappelle un canard. À propos: c’est sa femme, Vera Düring, qui est à l’origine de la première formule du produit de nettoyage.

Fedele alla sua idea, l’inventore presentò un brevetto, girando persino uno spot televisivo. Il successo fu travolgente: dall’introduzione sul mercato nel 1980, l’Anitra WC è diventato un must della pulizia, presente in tutti i bagni della Svizzera e un prodotto di punta dell’export rosso-crociato. Lo spirito creativo gli è stato trasmesso dalla famiglia: la madre di Walter, Maria Düring-Keller, ideò il noto anticalcare «durgol», gettando così le basi per l’azienda di famiglia. Quando Walter ne entrò a far parte, iniziò a lavorare alla realizzazione di pratiche bottiglie di plastica cercando di risolvere un terribile dilemma: come poter applicare i prodotti per la pulizia sotto il bordo del WC senza difficoltà. Ma ecco la soluzione: una bottiglia dalla forma ricurva, che ricorda il collo di un’anatra. Un’ultima curiosità: a elaborare la prima formula del detergente fu la moglie, Vera Düring.

When Walter Düring-Orlob wanted to name his new product “Toilet Duck”, he was advised against it. But he stuck by his idea, applied for a patent and even made a TV commercial. It has achieved huge success! Since its market launch in 1980, Toilet Duck has become indispensable in Swiss bathrooms – and a long-standing export hit. The spirit of innovation ran in the family: Walter’s mother Maria Düring-Keller developed the famous “durgol” descaler, laying the foundation for the family business. When Walter joined, he was working on the practical plastic bottles. He kept wondering how a cleaning product could be squirted effortlessly under the toilet rim. The answer was a curved bottleneck reminiscent of a duck. Incidentally, the first recipe for the cleaning product came from his wife Vera Düring.
