Vor 200 Jahren fuhr das erste Dampfschiff auf dem Bodensee. Im Jahr 1824 fährt zum ersten Mal ein Dampfschiff auf dem Bodensee. Die «Wilhelm» verbindet die Schweizer Gemeinde Romanshorn mit der deutschen Stadt Friedrichshafen. Zunächst transportiert sie nur Waren, später befördert sie dann auch Passagiere. Heute verkehren Schiffe aller drei Anrainerländer – Schweiz, Deutschland und Österreich – auf dem See. Die Briefmarke bildet die ruhige und friedliche Stimmung und die schöne Natur ab, die man auf dem Schiff geniessen kann.

Le premier bateau à vapeur a navigué sur le lac de Constance il y a 200 ans. Le lac de Constance accueille son premier bateau à vapeur en 1824. Le «Wilhelm» relie la commune suisse de Romanshorn à la ville allemande de Friedrichshafen. Au début, le trafic est réservé aux marchandises. Puis, il évolue vers le transport de passagers. Aujourd’hui, des bateaux des trois pays riverains – la Suisse, l’Allemagne et l’Autriche – naviguent sur le lac. Le timbre est un clin d’œil à l’ambiance paisible et calme et à la belle nature environnante que l’on peut apprécier depuis un bateau.

Il «Wilhelm» collegava il comune svizzero di Romanshorn alla cittadina tedesca di Friedrichshafen. All’inizio era riservato esclusivamente al traffico merci, in seguito è stato utilizzato anche per il tra-sporto passeggeri. Oggi sul lago circolano natanti dei tre paesi che si affacciano sullo specchio d’acqua e che battono bandiera svizzera, tedesca e austriaca. Il francobollo strizza l’occhio all’atmosfera placida e tranquilla e alla suggestiva cornice naturale circostante che si può ammirare dall’imbarcazione.

The “Wilhelm” provided a connection be-tween the Swiss municipality of Romanshorn and the German town of Friedrichshafen. Initially, only cargo was transported, but over time, passenger services also began to operate. Today, boats from the three surrounding countries – Switzerland, Germany and Austria – sail on the lake. The stamp is a snapshot of the tranquil mood and wonderful natural environment that visitors can enjoy from a boat.
