CTT presents an issue of philatelic labels on the Mediterranean bailouts carried out by the Portuguese Navy, National Maritime Authority and National Republican Guard.
The Portuguese Navy, through its Naval Units, has been participating, since 2006, in operations in the Eastern and Western Mediterranean with the main objectives of collaborating in reducing the flow of irregular migration towards the external borders of the European Union, supporting operations search and rescue and contribute to the timely identification of people in a particularly vulnerable situation.
The National Maritime Authority, through the Maritime Police, has been integrated in Operation POSEIDON, since 2014 and, uninterruptedly, from May 1, 2017 until today, under the coordination of the European agency FRONTEX, with the objective of controlling and to monitor the Greek and external maritime borders of the European Union, in the fight against irregular migration to Greece, within the scope of the European coast guard functions.
The Republican National Guard (GNR), through its Coastal Control Unit, in addition to the missions it carries out in the national territory, such as surveillance, patrolling and interception on the coast and territorial sea, also contributes to the European border control effort external
European Union, a place where migratory flows used by a large number of third-country nationals have been recurrent in recent years. GNR's goal is to cooperate with other European forces and agencies to reduce the loss of human life at sea.
