Original 1903 illustrated postcard from Buenos Aires, addressed locally to Señorita Margarita Roth, Calle Cinco No. 2437, bearing a 2 centavos brown “Libertad seated” definitive of Argentina.
The stamp is cancelled with Buenos Aires postmark dated 19 AGO 1903, and the card carries a clear triangular “T 0,4 Cts” Due marking, together with CLASIFICACION SECCION CARROS auxiliary handstamp, indicating postage due handling within the capital.
The illustration on the front is titled “Quartett”, drawn by A. Hendschel (Anton Hendschel, German artist and caricaturist, 1828–1893), from his series “Aus A. Hendschel’s Skizzenbuch” published by Verlag v. M. Hendschel, Frankfurt a.M. — showing a humorous quartet of musicians rendered in fine pencil style.
A beautiful combination of German artistic postcard and Argentine postal usage, exhibiting a local postage due in early 20th-century Buenos Aires.
Ideal for Open Class philately, Postage Due studies, and Art and Music-themed postal history.
