I asked AI to make a fee comparison. What do you think?

Delcampe has integrated MangoPay for payments, and transactions via MangoPay are free of charge for users.

    ### Delcampe Fees (With MangoPay Integration)

    1. **Listing Fees**: Free.
    2. **Final Value Fee**: Delcampe charges a final value fee based on the sale price and whether the seller has a club subscription.
    - Without subscription: 8.5% on the first €1,000, 4.5% on the amount between €1,000 and €50,000, and 2.5% on the amount above €50,000.
    - With subscription: Reduced rates apply, but exact figures depend on the subscription plan.
    3. **Payment Fees**: Free of charge when using MangoPay.

    ### eBay Fees

    1. **Insertion Fees**: Typically $0.30 per listing after free monthly listings are used.
    2. **Final Value Fee**: eBay's standard fee is 12.9% of the total sale amount, including shipping costs.
    3. **Payment Processing Fees**: eBay Managed Payments charges around 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.

    ### Comparative Example

Let’s consider a sale price of $100 (approx. €92 as of current exchange rates) for comparison:

    #### On Delcampe:
    - **Final Value Fee**: 8.5% of $100 = $8.50
    - **Payment Fee**: Free via MangoPay
    - **Total Fees**: $8.50

    #### On eBay:
    - **Final Value Fee**: 12.9% of $100 = $12.90
    - **Payment Processing Fee**: 2.9% of $100 + $0.30 = $3.20
    - **Total Fees**: $12.90 + $3.20 = $16.10

    ### Summary

    - **Delcampe**: $8.50 in fees for a $100 sale (with MangoPay, no payment fee).
    - **eBay**: $16.10 in fees for a $100 sale.

:cool2: With MangoPay being free of charge on Delcampe, the platform offers a significantly more cost-effective solution compared to eBay, especially when considering the final value fee and the absence of payment processing fees. :d-happy:

It seems that you have missed the fact that since April 2, Delcampe are not charging sellers a 'final value fee', which makes all your calculations meaningless

The current fees can be found here: Link (https)
First select Thailand, Private etc. at the top, then click on Update. Monthly subscription fees will also be added soon. And what's more, 90 percent don't pay with Mangopay, but with PayPal. These costs are also missing in your bill.

:cool2: Thanks for the clarification. Who does not lose the overview about the changes from the changes from the upcoming changes? ;)

Your link is the platform fees paid by the buyer, correct? So it should not be in the fee calculation for the seller.

Can you elaborate on the 90% of PayPal? Is this your case/experience? I would assume that European buyers use Mangopay as it is free.

Yes, the future subscription fees of minimum 4,95 are not included - as it's the future, not the current status.

I will come up with another example calculation... :d-happy:

###UPDATED Comparative Example for a private seller

To provide a complete and accurate comparison, we'll include both MangoPay and PayPal fees for Delcampe, and PayPal fees for eBay.

    Does this make more sense?

    ### Delcampe Fees (Including MangoPay and PayPal Fees)

    1. **Listing Fees**: Free.
    2. **Subscription Fee**: €4.95 per month.
    3. **Payment Fees**:
    - **MangoPay**: Free of charge.
    - **PayPal**: Typically around 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.

    ### eBay Fees

    1. **Insertion Fees**: Typically $0.30 per listing after free monthly listings are used.
    2. **Final Value Fee**: eBay's standard fee is 12.9% of the total sale amount, including shipping costs.
    3. **Payment Processing Fees**: eBay Managed Payments charges around 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.

    ### Comparative Example with Updated Fees for a Private Seller Using MangoPay or PayPal

Let’s consider a sale price of $100 (approx. €92 as of current exchange rates) for comparison:

    #### On Delcampe (Using MangoPay):
    - **Platform Fee**: None.
    - **Monthly Subscription Fee**: €4.95 ≈ $5.45 (using €1 = $1.10 exchange rate)
    - **Payment Fee**: Free via MangoPay
    - **Total Fees**: $5.45

    #### On Delcampe (Using PayPal):
    - **Platform Fee**: None.
    - **Monthly Subscription Fee**: €4.95 ≈ $5.45 (using €1 = $1.10 exchange rate)
    - **PayPal Fee**: 2.9% of $100 + $0.30 = $3.20
    - **Total Fees**: $5.45 + $3.20 = $8.65

    #### On eBay:
    - **Final Value Fee**: 12.9% of $100 = $12.90
    - **Payment Processing Fee**: 2.9% of $100 + $0.30 = $3.20
    - **Total Fees**: $12.90 + $3.20 = $16.10

    ### Summary

    - **Delcampe (Using MangoPay)**: $5.45 in fees for a $100 sale (including the monthly subscription fee, with free MangoPay transactions).
    - **Delcampe (Using PayPal)**: $8.65 in fees for a $100 sale (including the monthly subscription fee and PayPal fee).
    - **eBay**: $16.10 in fees for a $100 sale (including the final value fee and payment processing fee).

:d-happy: When using MangoPay, Delcampe offers the lowest fees. Even when using PayPal, Delcampe is still more cost-effective compared to eBay for a $100 sale.

:cop: However, there is a 10% platform fee + 0,30 item fee born by the buyer

That may be the case in a certain situation.

But let's take another example (price set by the seller: 100 euros):
    - If a German buyer buys something from a private seller on eBay, neither the seller nor the buyer pays any fees.
    - If a German buyer buys something from a private seller on Delcampe, the buyer pays a fee of 10.30 euros, the seller may pay a shop fee, and if paying with PayPal, an additional 3.10 euros is added (there is no incentive for customers to pay with Mangopay, as PayPal is also free for them. That's why 90% pay with PayPal, and because it is well-known and proven.)

Correct, I stated in another post that eBay DE is totally free - for private sellers.
I will ask DC direct about the statistics on Mangopay/PayPal. Let's see if they are talkative ;-)

I don't need ai,to know, that ebay is more expensive, even when consider payments via Paypal. On ebay I pay FVF on shipping and on international taxes which buyers pays.It means, that they charge me for nothing and on a top pf this I pay Canadian HST.Total fees apr. 15-18%. On Delcampe now have to pay Paypal fees on Delcampe fees when paid via paypal, which is wrong as well, but anyway ebay is still way more expensive.
Anyway, selling on both and it works for me.

I used to run my new best stock through ebay once and if unsold then onto Delcampe, and all other stock of good quality straight onto Delcampe. I made much more on ebay selling on ebay yearly than having thousands of postcards on Delcampe. Fees are higher on Ebay but there is a good reason.

    - **MangoPay**: Free of charge.

Your example is not realistic: if you offer something for $100 on both eBay and Delcampe, people will buy for $100 on eBay instead of for $110,3 on Delcampe, leaving you with a €4.95 subscription fee without sales. To have the same end price for the buyer, you'd need to lower your price on Delcampe to $90.64, meaning that if the buyer pays with PayPal, you would in the end receive more selling on eBay ($83.9) than on Delcampe ($81.99).

This is what you get after selling item for £2.99 GBP on eBay United Kingdom. How kind of them to take £1.51 in fees, together with more than £90 per month for a medium size shop. Remember, their fees are a percentage of the item price plus postage costs.

Even the ad fee is calculated the same way and, believe me, unless your'e selling rare items you'll need to pay for those ads or sales will plummet.

For my stamp sales the comparison is not so bleak. I dont pay for advertising and get a passable sell through rate

For instance, a comparison of sales on a £0.99 stamp lot with 1.60 Postage

    Ebay Fees
Insertion Fee £0.12 (assuming sells on first listing, and 1st tier shop)
Final Value Fee (10.9% on postage as well) £0.28
Regulation Fee (0.35% on postage as well) £0.01
Fixed Fee £0.10 (stamp lots under £10 get a discount from the standard £0.30)
    Total Fees £0.51

    Delcampe Sale Fees
Buyer Final Value Fee £0.09 (10% of item cost, that I discount by 10% to £0.90 to allow for some of delcampe fees)
    Buyer Fixed Fee £0.27
    Paypal £0.19 (microtransaction rate 5p + 5% charged - including delcampe fees)
    Total Fees £0.55

Neither example includes shop fees, but the large eBay shop fees are offset somewhat by the free insertion for a large number of lots. As you get a larger shop your insertion fees go down.

Delcampe shop fees will be a pure cost, with no additional benefits if you do not add special features to your listings. At its worst it will be an insertion fee of ½p/month per item, which you'll be paying a lot more of due to the lower sell through rate on delcampe.
