PACKING LIST FLEXIBILITY - PLEASE REINSTATE

The latest changes which now restrict our ability to produce a packing list unless items have been marked as settled either automatically or manually is in my opinion a regressive step and severely impacts the way that I operate my business. I am sure that I am not the only seller impacted negatively by this area of the latest changes.

I have sent the following note (see below) to Delcampe UK Support this morning. If you agree with my point of view - i.e. that a seller should be able to print a packing list at any time please add your support to this thread.

"While I welcome enhancements to the Delcampe system one of the changes in the latest upgrade has caused me a major business process problem.

Delcampe must realize that sellers operate differently and they should provide optimum flexibility. Changes should not be regressive.

I am no longer able to print a ‘packing list’ using the ‘Print Delivery Note’ automatically and when I want. This feature was available previously. It seems that a packing list can only be produced when the customer is deemed to have paid – either an automatic process if settlement is via Delcampe or manually by the seller.

However, I operate on the basis of preparing the customer’s order before he makes payment. Sometimes the customer makes purchases over several days (even weeks) and some even buy over 100 items. I like to keep on top of their order. Most times it is helpful to print a packing list, WITH IMAGES as this helps me to identify the items quickly. The result is that I can ship as soon as payment is received providing an optimum service to the customer which in turn reflects on my business and also Delcampe. It seems I can no longer do this unless I mess with the system to indicate that payment has been received when it hasn’t (i.e. by turning the ‘Payment received or not’ icon on and off). This is neither desirable nor practical.

I would therefore ask Delcampe to reinstate the ability to produce a packing list for all unpaid items at the seller’s option and not dependent on settlement. This flexibility is needed / critical.

Additionally I would point out that the feature to mark ALL items as sent when printing the packing list is probably in the wrong place. Every business is different but I think the majority of businesses process the order before they indicate that they have shipped the item(s). For my own part the business process is simple and as follows: order received; I produce the packing list; check that I have all the items; wait for payment; payment received; package for shipment; take to Post Office … and then I contact the customer to advise that items are in the post and mark the items as sent and then provide feedback. Net, I would NOT mark the items as sent when I produce the packing list!
Further I would hope that the feature doesn’t get overwhelmed when there are over 100 items to be marked as sent. The old feature did!

This is a significant issue and I hope that Delcampe will address this matter very quickly as I can see it causing me and others immense problems."
