Royal Mail won't post to Europe?

    I have had a couple of items to post to Europe refused at my local Post Office this morning. Postage prices, particularly Europe increase 1st January!!!!!!!!!!!!

    One of the wonderful benefits of Brexit.

    The cynical amongst us would say its because of the impending price increases that come into effect on the 2nd January. My local postmaster says its because no one knows what the new rules are regarding mail going to Europe and also Covid-19 is playing its part as we are now the worst hit country in Europe with the new virus variants.

    We are apparently the pariahs of Europe.

    Oops, I have just created a duplicate thread on this subject.

    Wycombe, for standard letters, there should be no difference at all in the rules, so that is just an excuse.

    I just read this thread
    For anyone in UK waiting for mail from Philippines or some other Asian countries....mail to UK is suspended "temporarily" re the COVID-19 problems

    I am a Brit living in Philippines, so its all a bit embarrassing

    My local postmaster also refused mail to Germany as he thought that Germany was part of the UK. Is that an unintended result of Brexit? :question:

    And your link confirms that deliveries to Europe are not suspended.

    Over Christmas they were suspended / delayed due to traffic build up at Dover when France closed the border due to COVID concerns.

    Postage went up on 1st January for the third time in 12 months notably within the UK and the £1.45 20gm option to Europe increasing to £1.70.

    Life goes on during challenging times.

    Agreed, I got letters today from US, Canada, Belgium and France. You can buy postage online to all destinations (its easy!) I have been and posting in letterbox down road for past week (hope it gets there!) You need to do CN22 customs declaration on every foreign letter now, if you buy online you get one anyway (and proof of posting if you take it to PO) I just print out with postage label, fold over letter and stick it with lots of Sellotape, who needs to go to a PO? You don't even need a new price list if you have stocked up on NVI stamps!
