    Yes I agree. some sellers make conditions and surcharges. Quite unnecessary in my opinion too.

    Many sellers make no surcharges or conditions.....so buy from them only.

    Yes,,,,,most of the problems sellers have reported to paypal turn out to be the sellers fault ie replying to a link in a phishing email, insecure logins after surfing dodgy sites, inadequate antivirus & spyware software and the like.....in landbased finance matters we have credit card theft, ATM cloning, cheque fraud etc......

    Other than that, the only thingink that I don't like as a seller is the one-sided buyer protection policy.....but I always refund lost or damaged packages anyway so no real problem there & it is a cost of doing business whether online or land-based.

    Emmbersplace, you correctly identify the real reason for oversuspicious sellers: the very one sided buyer protection. I know of several cases where Paypal has filed in favour of the buyer, when the seller has been able to prove delivery. I can understand sellers getting very angry and suspicious, when they have done everything according to the "Paypal rules", but still get done.

    Although I feel sorry for anyone who falls foul of a phishing email, that is certainly not something I hold against Paypal.

I know of several cases where Paypal has filed in favour of the buyer, when the seller has been able to prove delivery. I can understand sellers getting very angry and suspicious, when they have done everything according to the "Paypal rules", but still get done.

    Although I feel sorry for anyone who falls foul of a phishing email, that is certainly not something I hold against Paypal.

    Absolutely right. I have the added irritant here that this country's postal service cannot be tracked online so even post office signed registration receipts are not accepted by paypal.

    Even so, I have used paypal for nearly 12 years and have only had 2 or 3 occasions where the buyer "fiddled me" via paypal. Cost probably about $250 or so......a microscopic percentage of my turnover in that time.

    By comparison, in my various land-based businesses in the UK over a period of 30 years or so, customers fiddling (or trying to fiddle) was a quite regular occurrence.

    So, all in all.....no real problem with pp or skrill
