I am seeking assistance to determine the location and purpose of this most likely WW2 structure. It is believed to have been taken by a military photographer. Thanks in advance for you time and effort in solving my mystery. Cheers. L

Interesting photo - it has been taken from a German air force Ju-52 transport aircraft looking to the rear past the tail (presumably from a hatch on the top of the fuselage). The aircraft in the distance are the same type. Makes me think of the German airborne invasion of Crete in May 1941, but of course it may not have been taken on an operation, so that is perhaps not much of a clue !

I understand now. The photographer was on the Ju-52 aircraft so what appeared to be a monument of some time was actually the tail of the airplane. Great job!! L
