Pupils of Leschetizky Vol.3 (pianists born in 1880 to 1882)
Sakuraphon SKRP78006
The third in a series of in-depth introductions to the treasured piano records of Leschetizky's students. This is a must-listen anthology of pianists born between 1880 and 1882, who form the core of Leschetizky's pupils.
Highlights include a newly discovered recording of Chopin's "Farewell Waltz" by Ignaz Friedman, the Chopin player of the century (an official take released only in Spain), a private recording by Artur Shattuck, who absorbed much from Leschetizky's playing style, and a recording of Mozart played by Zadora, who was also a pupil of Busoni. With the full cooperation of the Drozdoff Society, we have recorded the Mozart played by Zadora (radio broadcast recording), who was also a pupil of Busoni, as well as rare recordings of Vladimir Drozdoff, a 19th century Russian pianist.
