    I have so few transactions through skrill nowadays that I use it to pay D fees (if there is enough there) and not much else. Skrill are the least favoured payment options amongst my buyers and fast becoming the most expensive.

    So. I will now consider withdrawing skrill as a payment option as it will make a miniscule difference to my sales........and I do remember the days when moneybookers/skrill was the only payment option on Delcampe!

    There are other online payment options out there that might be worth researching and offering to buyers via the t & c, postage section and invoice as D do not offer online alternatives via the e-wallet system.

    I recall that when moneybookers rebranded as skrill, the CEO stated that he hoped that the word skrill would become a de-facto verb like google or skype.......mmmmmm dream on!

    I'm surprised, though.

    Buyers paying by Skrill through the Delcampe wallet are not charged the 1% payment fee that it would cost them to pay directly via Skrill (that's the case for me at least).

    And sellers receiving funds to their Skrill account through the Delcampe wallet are charged 2%+0.19€, instead of 2.95%+0.25€ If they were to receive it directly.

    This arrangement between Delcampe and Skrill reduces the overall transaction costs from 3.9%+0.25€ to 2%+0.19€, which seems meaningfully cheaper to me than Paypal.

    It strikes me, therefore, that Delcampe members at least should be using Skrill more and the trends should up.

    Are you guys talking more generally than the Skrill volumes through the Delcampe wallet? Are the withdrawal costs that high that they offset the transaction savings? Are there other factors at play?

    Hi.....100% of my skrill receipts are paid by buyers through the e-wallet as are about 99% of my paypal receipts.

    I checked my skrill account as far back as I can go and volumes going through the account have reduced by about 50% and are now at a pretty negligible level.

    Whatever the monetary savings to buyers or sellers, it is the buyers who choose how they wish to pay for whatever reasons they select.

    It is also true that skrill is not available in many parts of the USA and some Asian countries, but the demography of my sales has not altered much over the last 3 or 4 years with 75% of sales still going to Europe so the reasons for the decline are not immediately obvious.

    I have to also say that I have always regarded auction site fees and payment fees merely as an overhead that needs to be reviewed in relation to the business as a whole rather than worrying about relatively small variances in rates & structures. Provided the charges are reasonable and roughly comparable with elsewhere, that is OK with me.

    My main interest is selling stamps etc and trying to maximize quality and the selection available to meet with the requirements of my regular, and hopefully soon to be regular, customers

    With skrill nowadays, I rarely receive more than $50 or so a month in receipts so the new withdrawal to bank fee amounts to around 8% or so of my monthly receipts. This is simply not acceptable. And I am not prepared to give them an interest-free loan by leaving the money in there either.

    To me, it seems like users of skrill are simply voting with their feet.......

    It's a good point you make that it's the buyer that chooses, so the seller 'benefits' are not immediately relevant in the equation.
    My sense is it's not widely known that Skrill through Delcampe is basically free for buyers: no loading fees via bank transfers, no 1% payment fees, and no withdrawal costs on the assumption you only load what you need.
    Paypal is easier, though: I can leave no balance and payments go through on direct debit from my bank account. No need to load before closing a transaction...
    Still, given both options are relatively cost neutral for me, I've tended to favor Skrill on the assumption it's cheaper for the sellers. But I now understand this might not always be the case...

    I agree. Not only the most expensive - no buyer protection of any sort and they charge to make a refund as well as taking several days to make a bank transfer.

    No wonder fewer and fewer want to send money this way or accept it. Hardly any competition to the likes of Paypal who do not charge for refunds, offer some sort of buyer protection and get money into your bank account usually within minutes of a transfer.

    be aware that refunds from Paypal is not free anymore (since more than a year ago)

    The 0,25 Euro Paypal fees will remains at the buyer's charge even if he refounds the whole payment

    be aware that refunds from Paypal is not free anymore (since more than a year ago)

    The 0,25 Euro Paypal fees will remains at the buyer's charge even if he refounds the whole payment

    I do not know if it is different in France but I have just made a partial refund to someone who overpaid postage and packing and was not charged anything for the refund to be made.

    You forgot withdrawal fees, which are currently £2.49, so if you want to withdraw £100,, the total fees will be 2% Delcampe, plus 16 pence per transaction PLUS 2.5% withdrawal fees, which make is total MORE THAN 5%!!!!
    Compare to paypal.
