One of the names on the building is Hebblethwaite - that's a Cumbria/Yorkshire name.

The Playle website has a section on identifying publishers by the stamp boxes.
It gives "Crown Studios" published between 1913 and 1929, but I am no further as to where Crown Studios might have been located.

My guess is this is Knaresborough; I've attached a picture of Lawrence's chemist shop there which bears a striking resemblance to the light-coloured building in the far left of your picture, and if you look very carefully you can see the top of an arched window on the shop next door which corresponds with the right-most building in my card

Other possibilities with an open market-place with similar buildings are Ripon or Richmond but if pressed I'd stick with Knaresborough

Ignore Carol's comments about the telegraph pole, she's nobbut a lass - they were a common sight in towns right up to the 1960s when the open wires were replaced with multi-core underground cables. I climbed up plenty when I was a GPO monkey after leaving school!

On my card the right-most building says "Eddy's something or other" on the centre window, and is obviously a boot and shoe shop selling 'Gents Sunday Boots' and 'The Nugget' Polishes according to the side window panes

The wall between the first and second floor windows has had the image obliterated but under a lens reads "Eddy's Cash..." where yours reads 'Boot and Shoe Depot'

    Hello,

On the frontage of the right building I read "groceries A. Beal"

    Best regards
