    If you look closely, you'll see that it's cancelled "USPS CAPEX STA.", so this would be a legitimate cancel made at the official USPS booth at the exhibition. And yes, it is a first day cancel as these stamps (in a set of 50 different) were issued that day. Perhaps they had 50 different postcards too, one for each stamp. :)

    If you look closely, you'll see that it's cancelled "USPS CAPEX STA.", so this would be a legitimate cancel made at the official USPS booth at the exhibition. And yes, it is a first day cancel as these stamps (in a set of 50 different) were issued that day. Perhaps they had 50 different postcards too, one for each stamp. :)

    How to find the day a stamp is issued? The Scott Catalog will list the date of issue in the listing of the stamp. Many catalogs have FDC sections, too. Brookman's seems more complete than Scott's, IMO.

    If you don't have a catalog, check the local public library. I saw the cajun cousin mention this in another thread but it's good to repeat. These catalogs are available there and check around. I know here in Seattle some branch libraries only have reference copies (you can't check them out) while other branches do circulate the very same catalog. Finally, see if your club has a copy you can use or see if your library has a book sale. I got a complete 2005 Scott set for $3/volume last spring(!)

    I'm seriously thinking of buying up any and all Scott catalogs I can find at the Friends of Seattle Public Library sale. It occurs twice a year but the Scott cats only appear in the spring right after they get the new ones. $21 for a complete set, one year old? how can you go wrong. You can usually find some 2 or 3 yr. old copies, too, and these are $0.75. YUP, 75 cents. Seattle can't be the only library system that does this. Not sure how big Erie's system is but it'd be worth a look for our newest member.
