The Ranfasids (Ramphastidae), commonly known as toucans, diotedé or diostedé. This family of Rhaphastid birds of the order of the piciformes is very wide since it houses six genera and forty-two different species of toucans. They are characterized by having a very developed peak and bright colors. They measure between 18 and 65 cm, with the Toucan playing (Ramphastos play) the largest. They are widely distributed throughout the American continent, from Mexico to Argentina. Some species prefer humid lowland tropical forests, while others inhabit more temperate mountain forests at altitudes up to 3000 masl. The name of this group of birds comes from the guaraní: tupí tucana.

El aura gallipavo, buitre americano cabecirrojo, aura tiñosa, gallinazo cabeza roja, o urubú de cabeza roja (Cathartes aura) es una especie de ave Accipitriformesa4 de la familia Cathartidae. Su área de distribución se extiende desde el extremo sur de Sudamérica hasta el sur de Canadá. Habita una variedad de zonas abiertas y semiabiertas, incluyendo bosques subtropicales, matorrales, pastizales y desiertos. Es un ave grande, con una envergadura de 170-183 cm, una longitud de 64-81 cm y un peso que puede variar entre 0,85 y 2,26 kg. Su plumaje es marrón oscuro hasta negro; la cabeza y el cuello no tienen plumas y son de color púrpura-rojo. Su pico es corto, ganchudo, y de color marfil.
Los ranfástidos (Ramphastidae), conocidos comúnmente como tucanes, diotedé o diostedé. Esta familia de aves ranfástidas del orden de los piciformes es muy amplia ya que alberga seis géneros y cuarenta y dos especies diferentes de tucanes. Se caracterizan por poseer un pico muy desarrollado y de vivos colores. Miden entre 18 y 65 cm, siendo el tucán toco (Ramphastos toco) el de mayor tamaño. Están ampliamente distribuido por el continente americano, desde México hasta Argentina. Algunas especies prefieren selvas húmedas tropicales de baja altitud, mientras que otras habitan en bosques más templados en cordilleras, a altitudes hasta los 3000 msnm. El nombre de este grupo de aves procede del guaraní: tupí tucana.
