Station Antwerpen-Zuid, vandaag in het district Antwerpen gelegen tussen de Antwerpse wijken het Kiel en het Zuid, begon zijn geschiedenis in 1877 als goederenstation voor de treinen die via de in 1875 rechtgetrokken Scheldekaaien en het station Antwerpen-Waas van het station Antwerpen-Dokken toekwamen. Het door de Bank van Breda gerestaureerde stationsgebouw van het goederenstation aan de Ledeganckkaai getuigt nog van dit begin. 1894 - Het Zuidstation wordt wegens de wereldtentoonstelling door een poort door de Antwerpse Vesting met spoorlijn 52 verbonden. Er wordt met een nieuw stationsgebouw voor reizigers aan de Bolivarplaats begonnen. 1902 - Het monumentale nieuwe stationsgebouw aan de Bolivarplaats wordt ingehuldigd. Architect is Jules-Jacques van Ysendyck (1836-1901). De stijl wordt Vlaamse neorenaissance genoemd. 1907 - Het station wordt met spoorlijn 25A (Mechelen - Waarloos - Kontich - Wilrijk - Antwerpen-Zuid) verbonden. 1937 - Lijn 25A tussen Antwerpen-Zuid en Wilrijk wordt opgebroken. 1965 - Het station wordt naar de Kolonel Silvertopstraat verplaatst en het oude stationsgebouw aan de Bolivarplaats wordt afgebroken (hier staat nu het nieuwe gerechtsgebouw). 1970 - Via de Kennedytunnel komt ook spoorlijn 59 nu in Antwerpen Zuid aan om samen met lijn 52 via de vestinglijn verder naar het station Antwerpen-Berchem te sporen.
