Prior to the Jersey States banknote issues of 1963, Bank of England notes were used in Jersey. During the German occupation of the Channel Islands in WWII, permission was given for the printing and circulation of banknotes from six Pence to one Pound. This was to alleviate a shortage of cash, particularly coinage, in the island.
This note was first issued in 1993.
Obverse (front) – Mainly purple on a multicoloured underprint. Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II to the right.
Reverse (back) – Purple on a multicoloured underprint. Illustration of La Corbiere Lighthouse.
Grading – UNC – A perfectly preserved note. Paper is clean and firm, without discoloration. Corners are sharp and square, without any evidence of rounding, folding or bending.
Size – 135mm x 70mm approximately.
