Rare first edition of the Bibel-Atlas by renowned cartographer C.F. Weiland, published in Weimar in 1832 by the prestigious Geographisches Institut.
This biblical atlas features a complete set of 14 engraved maps, some hand-colored, illustrating key locations and journeys of the Old and New Testament.
The maps provide detailed views of:
+Ancient Jerusalem
+Canaan divided among the 12 tribes
+The travels of St. Paul
+The journeys of Jesus in Palestine
+The Exodus route from Egypt
+The Kingdoms of David and Solomon
+The lands of Noah and Abraham
Each map is captioned in German and engraved with fine detail typical of early 19th-century Weimar cartography.
Highlights:
+Complete and original with all 14 maps bound in
+Plan von Alten Jerusalem – one of the most desirable maps in biblical cartography
+Reisen Jesu in Palästina and Reisen des Paulus – rare New Testament maps
+First edition status, confirmed via title page and bibliographic record
+Attractive marbled boards, original 1832 binding
Good condition overall for its age. The original marbled paper-covered boards show wear and edge rubbing, and the binding is slightly loose and uneven but remains intact. Internally, there is moderate foxing throughout, mostly affecting the margins and text. However, the engraved maps are generally clean and well-preserved, with strong impressions and minimal staining.
All maps are present, complete, and firmly bound. No missing pages or major tears. A well-preserved example of an early 19th-century biblical atlas.
Note: This atlas is increasingly rare in complete form. A cornerstone item for collectors of early religious cartography, German atlases, and antique biblical literature.
