Russland - Sammlung Sowjetische Orden, Medaillen und Abzeichen "Polnyj Kavaler"
Der Ursprung dieser bemerkenswerten Sammlung von über 2.200 Einzelstücken liegt im Fall der Mauer im Jahre 1989 und der Wiedervereinigung Deutschlands. Der gebürtig aus der Nähe von Magdeburg stammende Sammler bereiste nach Grenzöffnung die ehemalige DDR, um alte Erinnerungen aufzufrischen, da er das Land nach dem Abitur bereits mit 18 Jahren verlassen hatte, um in Westdeutschland Medizin zu studieren.
Als Kind hatte er noch das Kriegsende im Osten Deutschlands und die sowjetischen Truppen erlebt. Diese Erlebnisse haben ihn geprägt; vielleicht auch gerade deshalb das Interesse an der Sowjetunion, ihren Uniformen, Orden und Abzeichen geweckt.
Bei seinen damaligen Reisen kam er erstmals in Kontakt mit Bürgern der ehemaligen Sowjetunion, die ihm erste Stücke anboten. So kaufte er zuerst einzelne Orden und informierte sich über die historischen Hintergründe. Schnell entwickelte sich ein breites Fachwissen zu dem Thema. Eine Sammelleidenschaft war entfacht, die sich bald auf die gesamte Familie ausbreitete und deren vollständige Freizeit ausfüllte.
Die Sammlung sollte zunächst möglichst jeweils ein Exemplar aller sowjetischen Orden umfassen. Doch dabei blieb es nicht. So wurden aus einem Orden für die Sammlung zum Teil Hunderte Exemplare desselben Typs, wie insbesondere beim Rotbannerorden, dessen Typologie anhand der vorliegenden Stücke in einzigartiger Weise nachvollzogen werden kann.
Wichtig war bei der Zusammenstellung der Sammlung, dass die einzelnen Stücke in einem sehr guten und makellosen Zustand waren. Dies sieht man auch der Qualität der vorliegenden Stücke heute noch an.
Schnell entwickelte sich ein Netzwerk von Gleichgesinnten, über das auch ausgesprochen seltene und erlesene Stücke in die Sammlung kamen. Im Laufe der Jahre kamen so, neben der schieren Menge an Orden und Abzeichen, auch ausgesprochen hochwertige Stücke zusammen. Besonders erwähnenswert sind beispielsweise die Mehrfachverleihungen des Rotbannerordens, der Held der Sowjetunion oder auch die in ihrem Unfang kaum zu erreichende Kollektion an, zum Teil äußerst seltenen, Abgeordnetenabzeichen. So wurde der Hauptteil der Sammlung über einen Zeitraum von rund 15 Jahren zusammengetragen, der in den Jahren nach 2005 allerdings mangels entsprechender Angebote kaum noch erweitert werden konnte. ÷ Russland - Russia: Collection of Soviet Orders, Medals and Badges "Polnyj Kavaler".
The origin of this remarkable collection of over 2,200 individual pieces lies in the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and the reunification of Germany. The collector, who was born near Magdeburg, travelled to the former GDR after the opening of the border to refresh old memories, as he had left the country at the age of 18 to study medicine in West Germany after graduating from high school.
As a child he had seen the end of the war in Eastern Germany and the Soviet troops. These experiences have shaped him; perhaps that's why it sparked interest in the Soviet Union, its uniforms, medals and badges.
During his travels at the time, he first came into contact with citizens of the former Soviet Union, who offered him his first pieces. So he first bought individual orders and informed himself about the historical background. He quickly developed a broad knowledge of the subject. A passion for collecting was sparked, which soon spread to the entire family and filled their full free time.
The collection should include as many copies of all Soviet orders as possible. But that was not all. Thus, from a medal for the Collection partly hundreds of pieces of the sam type, such as in particular the Red Banner Order, whose typology can be comprehended in a unique wayon the Basis of the present pieces.
When compiling the collection it was important that the individual pieces were in a very good and flawless condition. This can still be seen today in the quality of the pieces.

Christoph Gärtner made his hobby into his profession. He started in 1984 and within two decades the Gärtner GmbH developed into a world leading mail order house for postal stationery and became a specialist for thematics and postal history.
In april 2005 the idea to build a place where collectors, customers and investors from all over the world could meet, was realized.
Since that time both, the Mail Order House and Auction House Gärtner, have been united on 2.700 m2 in the easy accessible building owned by Christoph Gärtner.
Generous viewing and storage rooms, a private auction hall, enough parking space and an underground car park are available.
