CTT launched today, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education, a philatelic issue dedicated to Portuguese faces at the United Nations (UN): Maria de Lourdes Pintasilgo, Jorge Sampaio, Diogo Freitas do Amaral and António Guterres.
This philatelic issue consists of four N20g stamps, with a face value of €0.54, with a circulation of 75,000 copies each.
The first-day cancellations will be carried out at CTT Lojas dos Restauradores, in Lisbon, Palácio dos Correios, in Porto, Zarco, in Funchal, and Antero de Quental, in Ponta Delgada.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education, living up to the UN challenge «Building our Future Together», jointly implementing a series of initiatives to mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of the UN and the 65th anniversary of Portugal's accession, with the intention of promoting knowledge about the structure and action of this world organization, as well as making known a notable action of the Portuguese within it.
It was in this context that the school competition «Portuguese Faces at the UN 75 years | 75 images», addressed to students of all years of schooling in the network of Portuguese schools in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (EPE).
The students were challenged to produce original images, without mastering the Visual Arts, a modality of drawing, where to interpret the faces of these four illustrious Portuguese people.
