30 Years Reserve and Ecopark TALICE. Zoo. Dromedary.
In the Philatelic sheet an aerial view is appreciated, with its buildings in elliptical form, which suggest a humanization of architecture, with soft curved lines resting on the ground and respecting the fragility of nature.
And it contains a stamp with the image of an albino dromedary, born there, named "Talecito", which is one of the attractions of the Ecopark.
BRIEF OVERVIEW 30 YEARS
Two are the tourist spaces with the theme of flora and fauna that turn 30 years in July 2021. Both were inaugurated in 1991 within the framework of the then movement "Flowers for life" made up of people from the department who lit the red light on the destruction that he was having part of the natural world by the action of man himself, unconscious and thoughtless.
ZOOILOGICAL OF THE FUTURE
It is a sculptural work conceived and designed by the artist Martín Arregui, it is located in the roundabout of Route 3 and Route 23. Its theme refers directly to the aggression and extermination that the native fauna is suffering.
This sculptural group alludes to the animal and the danger that predation, indiscriminate hunting and the very effect of human evolution enclose for the autochthonous fauna.
It was inaugurated in September 1991 within the framework of the "Flowers for Life" campaign sponsored by the Flora and Fauna Preservation Commission of the Flores Municipality and the Environmental Preservation Commission of the Departmental Board.
It has three large multiple figures Sun, Moon and Star where the meeting of the human, animal and plant world is proposed as possible and harmonious. The remaining figures gather one or more animals (mulita, fox, partridge, bird, etc.) located at the top of a base, on which, in a similar plastic treatment, the silhouette of a weapon or human tool is cut out, as evident symbol of this aggression.
It is an iconic work that welcomes the city of Trinidad, it has been an identity symbol of the department since its creation.
RESERVE - ECOPARQUE TÁLICE
The Dr. Rodolfo Tálice Flora and Fauna Reserve is a creation of the “Flores por la vida” project, inaugurated on July 30, 1991. Since the union of the Municipality with a private investor it is called Ecoparque Tálice, although it continues promoting the reserve values of flora and fauna. At present it is included within the geo-sites of the Grutas del Palacio Geopark, the first in the country within the UNESCO seal.
In its area of 75 hectares, with a huge lake in the middle, 1,500 animals of different species coexist, among them mammals, birds and reptiles, both indigenous and from different parts.
When the reserve was created, a living tribute was paid to Dr. Rodolfo Tálice, who was the first Uruguayan academic parasitologist, professor, researcher with a vast experience with a strong intellectual side and active promoter of biological sciences (especially epidemiology) . Precisely, Tálice transcended in this area, which later highlighted him as a leading scientific figure in Uruguay for several decades of 1900. In a new century the prospects of sustainability for this reserve arrived, which, since its creation, was managed in the municipal orbit of the Municipality of Flores, and it is in 2016 that said municipality made a call for expression of interest for the tourist development of the department, among which was the Rodolfo Talice Flora and Fauna Reserve.
30 Años Reserva y Ecoparque TALICE. Zoológico. Dromedario.
