Elizabeth Bykova's book is dedicated to the 1st world chess champion Vera Menchik. The first women's world chess championship was held in London in 1927. In this championship, Menchik achieved a convincing victory, gaining 10.5 points out of 11. From 1930 to 1939 she confirmed six times the title of the strongest chess player in tournaments and matches.
