Highlights from our 5335 auction include:
Great Britain Stamps: A selection from all eras including a wonderful 4-margin 1d black, plate 6 "LE" with scarce magenta Maltese Cross cancel and an impressive 1888 £1 brown-lilac fine used. We also have a good range of booklets and booklet panes, officials and a fascinating (and rare) range of Channel Is and Isle of Man imperf proofs from the B.D.T. Printers' archive.
Greece Stamps: An attractive range with Hermes heads featuring strongly with several substantial collections and choice individual items including 187020L pale blue on bluish Athens print with DOUBLE CONTROL FIGURES on back, and postal history items including 1870 entire from Brindisi to Corfu showing a THREE COLOUR FRANKING along with attractive early to mid 20th century singles and sets.
Jamaica Stamps: Our selection features some hard-to-find items such as 1860-70 1s brown, Wmk Pineapple upright, variety "$ for S in shilling" used and 1890 2½d on 4d, CA Wmk, variety "PFNNY for PENNY & broken "K" for "Y" used along with KGVI booklets along with substantial used collections, postal history, etc.
Malaya Stamps: We a have an impressive range of items, with a super PERAK range including 1886 1c on 2c pale rose, surcharge double mint, STRAITS SETTLEMENTS 1921-33 $500 purple and orange-brown fiscal used and the scarce 1906-07 2c black and green perf 13½-14 fine mint, plus Federated Malay States, Malayan Postal Union and mixed and single state collections.
Sudan Stamps: A fascinating and attractive selection featuring Officials with general and specialised collections, multiples, varieties including 1948 "Nun" flaws; Postage Dues with sets in multiples, plate flaws etc. and a very unusual selection of glass photo plates for the 1962 Wild Game definitive set, with full sets of up to 6 plates per stamp and many more interesting items.
United States Stamps: We have a big range of 19th century classics, featuring a beautiful 1869 90c carmine and black Lincoln used, 1851-57 10c green imperf, a varied range of "grills", along with many collections, mint and used, plate proofs, newspaper stamps, perforation errors and more.
Grenada Stamps: A highly attractive QV range including 1881 ½d deep mauve, surcharged "NO HYPHEN" variety mint, 1892 Postage Due set mint, KEVII period sets and singles, 1938-50 Pictorials including a fine mint collection with varieties, along with later items including 1952 Postage Due varieties and various mint and used collections.
