The national administration of power plants and electric transmissions (UTE), is a company owned by the Uruguayan State dedicated to the activities of generation, transmission, distribution and commercialization of electric power, provision of supporting services and consulting.
To meet the demand of one million two hundred thousand customers located in the 176,215 km2 of the national territory, UTE has hydro, wind and thermal power plants. The production is complemented by the energy from the hydroelectric power plant of Salto Grande (binational undertaking between Argentina and Uruguay) and with energy from power plants owned by third parties.

La Administración Nacional de Usinas y Trasmisiones Eléctricas (UTE), es una empresa propiedad del Estado uruguayo que se dedica a las actividades de generación, trasmisión, distribución y comercialización de energía eléctrica, prestación de servicios anexos y consultoría.
Para satisfacer la demanda de un millón doscientos mil clientes ubicados en los 176.215 km2 del territorio nacional, UTE cuenta con centrales de generación hidráulica, eólica y térmica. La producción se complementa con la energía proveniente de la Central Hidroeléctrica de Salto Grande (emprendimiento binacional entre Argentina y Uruguay) y con la energía proveniente de plantas de generación propiedad de terceros.
